Slowed Metabolism

Years ago, it seemed that you could eat anything and never gain a pound. But now, things have changed. A slower metabolism may be to blame as your body can not convert food to energy as quickly as it could before. But there are ways to turn back the clock and speed your metabolism up again.

What Causes a Slowed Metabolism?
Decreased muscle mass due to age will cause the body to burn food calories as a slower rate. Also inactivity and a diet of fatty or carbohydrate rich foods will slow down the metabolism. Finally, a healthy metabolism requires good sleep habits and if sleep is disturbed regularly, the metabolism will be affected.

How Can a Slowed Metabolism Be Treated?
• Medical Weight Loss. The goal of our physician-directed weight loss program is to re-energize your metabolism using recommended diet and lifestyle changes. By combining lipid analysis, low glycemic impact eating, and nutrition education, a personalized weight loss plan is created to drive your energy levels up and help you sustain a healthy new way of life. At your first appointment, you should expect an extensive blood work evaluation, EKG, medical history, physical exam, as well as an in depth conference concerning eating habits.

• Vitamin B12 Injections. Weight loss, slowed metabolism, chronic fatigue syndrome, stress, and skin problems can all be treated with B12 Injections. Regular B12 injections may also reduce the probability of heart disease, strokes and memory loss.

• Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy. A precise dosage of bioidentical estrogens, progesterone, testosterone, and/or DHEA is prepared at a registered compounding pharmacy and prescribed. Each patient is then monitored carefully through regular follow-up hormone panels to ensure they get symptom relief at the lowest possible dosage. In the initial stages, we will do a hormone panel every three months. Once balance is restored, one panel per year will be reviewed.

HCG Treatment
HCG stands for human chorionic gonadotropin, a hormone naturally produced by the placenta in pregnant women that almost completely controls the metabolic function through the hypothalamus throughout a pregnancy. As a weight loss protocol, HCG controls the metabolic function through the hypothalamus in men and women.

How does it work?
HCG works by helping reset the hypothalmus by sending signals to begin breaking down and using abnormally high body fat as a primary fuel source. Our HCG “jump-start” program is a series of twenty-one daily injections combined with a rigorous diet which is quite effective at helping people rapidly start the process of losing stubborn fat stores. This is not a diet protocol to approach lightly or for making a short-term change. It requires total commitment for the duration of the diet. If strictly adhered to, most people can expect to lose between 10 and 20 pounds and gain momentum towards long-term weight loss goals.

Results:
Our goal is not short-term. We want to help you makes the changes and plans that will let you achieve your long-term goals. At the end of the HCG jump-start, we perform a round of metabolic and body composition testing that will give us the data we need to help you come up with a long-term plan. A benefit of the HCG jump-start is making the transition to a long-term diet possible. For many people, the difference between their current weight and where they want to be is so large that the challenge seems insurmountable. The HCG diet protocol can help you get started and show you that it is not only possible, but that every week a little more weight comes off will leave you feeling better than the week before.
