Stretch Marks

Whether you’ve experienced a recent pregnancy or dramatic weight change, the stretch marks that often result can leave obvious scars on all areas of the body. If your stretch marks are not fading over time, you might want to consider a variety of treatments to remedy these unwanted scars.

What Causes Stretch Marks?
Blame it on your parents. If your parents had stretch marks, then you are more prone to getting them too. Stretch marks can occur during rapid weight gain or loss, pregnancy, growth spurts and even weight lifting. While the marks tend to fade over time, for some the marks never disappear all together.

How Are Stretch Marks Treated?
• Fraxel Laser. Stretch marks can be treated using a pinpoint laser treatment which penetrates beneath the surface to smooth unsightly scar tissue. As the body heals, collagen regeneration will give the skin a more typical appearance.

• ViPeel- Chemical Peel. Using a blend of Retin-A and concentrated vitamins and minerals, this specialized chemical peel will even out stretch mark scar tissue and give it a firmer, tighter, rejuvenated look.

• Collagen Induction Therapy. Also known as Dermal Needling, this procedure stimulates the skin to produce new collagen, thereby improving skin texture. When applied to the skin, new collagen is produced within the skin and assists scar tissue healing.

• Permanent Make-up. By camouflaging scars and restoring the skin’s natural coloring, permanent make-up can ultimately erase many unsightly stretch marks.

• Punch grafts, topical lightening creams and steroid injections can also treat stretch mark scars. Please schedule a consultation with Dr. Cross to determine your personalized course of treatment.
