As far as beauty trends go, plump pouts are here to stay, making lip fillers the most popular cosmetic enhancement treatment of the decade. And, why not? Soft, full lips just seem youthful, healthy, sensuous, and sexy. As we get older, collagen and elastin, which give lips their fullness, collapse over time, not only deflating the shape, but increasing lines, and wrinkles. Once these lines become etched into the skin, there's even less definition, and less fullness. Thankfully, there are plenty of lip augmentation options available to renew those youthful puckers that Father Time has taken away.
TEMPORARY LIP FILLERS
Dermal fillers are products that are injected to add volume to an area of the lips or soften lines around the mouth due to aging. The benefits of lip fillers include:
- “In and out” procedure – after patient preparation, the procedure itself takes 15 minutes or fewer.
- Limited downtime – some patients may experience bruising
- Decreased upfront cost compared to alternatives
- Non-permanent – the effect typically last between nine and twelve months.
There are a number of injectable fillers that can restore volume and shape to lips that are thin or lacking good proportion. Some of these are shorter acting substances and others may last a very long time. Some of our favorites include:
Restylane Silk: This hyaluronic acid-based gel dermal filler instantly adds volume to the area where it’s injected. Restylane Silk is formulated using the same volumizing and moisturizing components found naturally in the skin. It’s a soft, cohesive gel that integrates into your tissue to provide subtle and even results. Restylane Silk is ideal for smoothing out the lip lines and lines around the lips.
Juvederm UltraXC and VolbellaXC: Not only, but two options for lips within the Juvederm Family of fillers. Created by Allergan (manufacturer of Botox), Juvederm uses the highest concentration of non-animal, cross-linked hyaluronic acid to provide a long-lasting volume boost the lips. Results last up to a year, with 78% of subjects in a clinical trial reporting satisfaction with the look and feel of their lips at the one-year mark.
Botox: Small doses of Botox can be used to evert the lips. When injected into certain parts of the lip muscle, the selective weakening makes the lips roll out to some extent. This leaves you with the appearance of fuller lips. Combining Botox with Juvederm or Restylane Silk in the lips maximizes the longevity of the treatment.
Poorly done lip enhancements rightly earn the infamous name "trout pout". We've all seen that look. Not here! At Lecada, we believe the results of lip augmentation should look completely natural. Artistic placement of fillers along the border of the lips (the “lip liner”) followed by filling the body of the lips (the “lipstick”) can yield beautiful yet natural-looking lips. This can be done tastefully for small lips and still looks beautiful. We know when to say “no more.”
Fuller lips are immediately noticeable and there is little to no downtime associated with treatment as results will improve over the next few days when any swelling diminishes. The treatment takes about 15 minutes and lasts about 6-12 months, depending on the filler. You may wish to repeat your lip injection procedure in the future to maintain lasting results.
PERMANENT LIP AUGMENTATION
Lecada's permanent lip volumizing treatment provides a natural-looking and long lasting solution. Utilizing a micro-droplet technique, your body forms collagen around the injected molecules and eventually the desired look is maintained. The amount of collagen formed depends upon your own body’s sensitivity. One to three treatments may be recommended in one month intervals.
