A purified protein derived from the bacterium clostridium botulinum, Botox® is used to treat dynamic wrinkles (motion wrinkles) by dramatically suspending the activity of the muscles that cause facial lines and wrinkles to form and keeps them relaxed for up to four months.
How does it work?
Botox® works by decreasing the activity of muscles that produce these wrinkles. The intent is not to cause paralysis of the muscle, but rather to weaken them enough to cause lines to relax and visibly diminish. It is relatively painless and most patients compare the sensation to a bug bite.
Results:
Botox® is highly effective and creates a refreshed, younger appearance. Results are apparent 3-10 days after treatment.
Duration:
Injections are typically given every 4-6 months since the effects diminish over time. The duration of its benefits are often extended with each successive treatment, therefore the second lasts longer than the first and so on. One of the most important benefits of repeated treatment is prevention of wrinkle formation.
