Sculptra® is a synthetic, biocompatible and biodegradable injectable known as “poly–L–lactic acid,” the same material used in disposable stitches. In fact, a natural form of poly-L-lactic acid is produced in the muscles during exercise. It is not a true filler but rather works by stimulating production of collagen within the skin. As a result, the skin thickens and softens in the area injected, giving both increased volume and smoothing lines and wrinkles.
How does it work?
Sculptra® is injected into the dermis of the skin in the area of desired fat and volume loss. Absorbed naturally by the body, Sculptra® gradually stimulates the production of your own collagen and helps lift, smooth and firm-up skin over time.
Results:
Sculptra® produces natural-looking results and works well to add volume to any area of the face. This is a gradual process. The fullness that is immediately visible disappears over several days. However, the body reacts by depositing new collagen, leading to thicker, healthier–looking skin and regaining the lost volume in the treated areas. The remarkable results typically take 4-6 weeks.
Duration:
Anti-aging treatments usually require 2-3 treatments spaced about four weeks apart. With each treatment, less and less Sculptra® will be necessary. The process of natural restructuring of the skin continues long after treatment, with dramatic results lasting two years and longer.
